The first pair come with the spools for her hair, but the one's I got also came with the spools and they didn't work at all. They kept falling out of the wig.

I just finished Death Note and I quite enjoyed Hellsing. I'm not big on comedies though. I do like a bit of violence but I enjoyed the psycological aspects of death note, any sugestions? I like lighter animes like fruits basket as well and since I just saw death note, i feel like maybe I should watch something a little less... depressing. After hearing a bit about Chobits, I thought I could watch that next, but would you say that its good?

I'm not that into Chobits tbh it was okay.. I still watched the whole series, and wasn't turned into a Chobits fangirl (but then again I like very dramatic psychological drama types and Chobits is dramatic in parts, but not in the same way)

If you like pyschological violency type anime then you'll probably enjoy Elfen Lied or Ergo Proxy

Death Note is amazing and I enjoyed the psychological aspects of it too and the complex plot twists

I think if your looking for a more lighter fluffier shoujo anime then maybe you'll like Tokimeki Memorial or Lamune

If you fancy combining the shoujo with the psychological you could always watch Key Animations (Air TV or Kanon) or H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~

Chobits is an excellent series- most CLAMP ones are. Anything by them might suit your interest. I would like to put up a warning/reminder that some if not most CLAMP series have hints or undertones of homosexuality (both male and female), so if that bothers you, research the series or ask.

You want less depressing, but not comedy? A lot of action series use comedy to lighten the mood. Inuyasha has romance and action, Bleach has action, Samurai Champloo is really good, Cowboy Bebop- well, that can be depressing. Paranoia Agent is pretty psychological. Trigun is a mix of comedy (especially the first 4 episodes) and action.

Try these and whatever else people suggest. There's a ton of anime to choose from!

one piece- one piece is about people who become pirates and try to become masters, the captain wants to be the pirate king.

i reccomend it so much! it rules. it is filled with comedy, action, adventure, some INTENSE moments...etc. it RULES!!!!!

kyou kara maou- like i said about one piece-IT RULES!! its about this boy who lives in japan and he gets flushed down the toilet into another world where he is a demon king

Chobits, I feel personally, was made for guys' enjoyment...it's a bit on the ecchi side imo...not at all serious or dramatic as Death Note. But I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy D. Gray Man for sure...probably Claymore, and possibly Evangelion. They're action packed, and has a lot of drama and deep message. They're all on a lil of violent side but very popular...you can watch all of them for FREE on stream at TailedFox :) Check it out!! Hope this helps~

well considering what u've been watching, chobits is gonna sound a little boring and waaaay less intense, and u might actually fall asleep while watching (happened with me) :p

if you want to watch chobits you should watch also The melancholy of haruhi suzumiya . its comedy but it is a little bit

tough to understand and for some reason you want to keep watching it. at least try it

chobits is fabulous!!! there are a few others simerler like girls bravo there is love hina but theres alot of comedy. if you still wanted a action anime this ones fate stay night !! i would say its quite a light one as theres a little romance in there too!!

I'm going to an anime convention two months from now (March 30th, to be precise) and I would like to buy a costume since the last time I tried making one it turned out more hassle than it was worth. (Nobody recognized me anyway. ;__;)

This time around my friends and I are cosplaying Chobits characters and I'm being Dita. I dont think I'm capable of making this costume, so does anyone know of any online stores that carry it? first try- look up an organization called the "SCA"

This is a historical reenactment group (Medieval/ Renaissance)- so almost EVERYONE has some costuming experience.

If you go to the site, and find the kingdom nearest you. Send an email saying that you are looking for someone to costume for you. Looking at this pic (as long as this is your character you want) This will be NO problem.

These folks work with leather and cloth, and know the practical side of costuming.

Your second choice is to just keep looking for each of these pieces by themselves in different stores.

when i watched chobits in youtube I taught that the first name given to freya is elda and the first name given to chii is eruda. in chobits episode 25 the landlady or hibiya-san told hideki that the first chobit was elda or known as freya and the second chobit was eruda or known as chii but when i read the subs chii's first name was elda not eruda. what are their true names?

It seems that when Chii finally knew that Hideki loved her she launched a program which caused her to shut down and activate freya instead, Freya's heart had been in Chii's system despite all other data being deleted... Chii activated her only becoz of how lonely Freya had been, not bein able to have the one she loved... After activation Freya requested to be shut down for good... but after shut down Hideki's words reactivated Chii (Elda)

The opening song was performed by the band ROUND TABLE (yes in all caps...strange name) and ROUND TABLE does not have Rie Tanaka as a member. Their lead singer is a lady named Nino. They do a lot of anime openings. ^_^

whats a persocon?(sp?)

a robot who similar alot to humans but still different ( like than weight). Chobits is a special persocon who can have feelings like Chii.

a PERSICOM is a computer that looks like a human. they can be programmed to act like humans if you want them to. Persicom are in a sense robots. Look up the anime Chobits. this anime has persicom in it, and you can get a sense of what they are, by watching it.

I read some of the "Fruits Basket" manga series recently and really enjoyed it! It seemed that alot of the Fruits Basket fans also liked "Chobits". So I started to read a little off the internet and decided it was disgusting. I was just wondering about it's rating.

It's actually rated Older Teen (16+) and it's the first of Clamp's works that feature a male protagonist as well as a mature theme.

Its rated Teen. but it's not disgusting, just the main character, Hideki, is a little peverted. but he's 18! MOST guys are peverted at that age! I would recommend watching the anime, it's not as "bad" as the manga is.

I have Chobits on dvd. I really like it, and my boyfriend loves it (though he will deny it to the end of time).

My favorite character is Shinbo and Sumomo. They have a talking figure of her at a store near me, but they only have the display model. They keep saying they'll get more in but the haven't yet.

Favorite episode is a tough one, proabbly the bath episode or the one where Chii goes to buy underwear.

I love, love, love the manga. Like every other Clamp work, I adore the manga, I love the anime, but it's no where near as good as the manga.

They are creating robots to help the elderly and sick. Supposedly they will look exactly like humans, but it still seems a long way off.

in the story chobits near the end of the plot, there is a mention of mechanical fighting dolls, which refers to angelic layer. angelic layer takes place in the story's universe first, and then the creator of angels (a.l) makes persocoms (chobits).

I would love to be able to get episodes of Chobits (it's a japanese cartoon) that is either subtitled in english or dubbed over in english. So, I get that Chii is a Chobit, thus being able to act on her own free-will. However, I'm still unclear on whether she can actually feel human emotions or whether she is simply programmed, like other persocoms, to display them.

That question is in fact the entire point of the show. How do you tell if an emotion is true? If the emotion is programmed is it still an emotion? Would it not be real to whoever is feeling it? The difference between Chi and the other persocoms is that Chi is allowed to act on what she feels, and thus try to find the answers by herself.

because she is a chobits she can emit human emotions i'm not sure though along with many other people that she is truely displaying them though even though she can act on her own will she is still a chobits computer so yeah i dont think anyone is really sure i think it's all based on opinion.

sadly after re-reading the final manga the answer from her sister freya is: the emotions aren't real. she clearly states to hideki that they are not alive and the emotions are simply algorithms they were programs as, even though they are so real its still nothing more then programming. however the contradiction is what hideki felt, he believes that chi does have a heart and that it is more then programming. i believe what he says cause it feel way too real to be that great of a program, and it seems she has her own real desires to make him so she can be happy and that doesn't sound like programming to me

Well if you read the manga as well as watch the show,she is very diffrent from most persocoms she can do and feel things others can't she does act on her own.

I don't think anyone can really tell if Chii is just dispaying emotions rather than feeling them. Persocoms are programed to be as human as their computer will let them so i think it is very possible. Check out this article for some more info on the whole series.

She developed her emotions on her own due because of her own advance programming and hardware, the other Personal Computers and other computers only imitate the displaying of emotions but don't experience them.

Her twin sister break down because her conflicting feelings, due the fact she romantically in love with her own father/creator.

It should be noted that at the end, she broadcast her ability to feel emotions into all computers, making all computers be able to feel emotions too (but probably not as advance as Chii). That's why the two government Super Computers finally hugged each other, they finally experience love for each other.

According to the story,she can feel human emotions,though not in the early stages, but in the end her emotions are almost human like.this is just my thought.

Freya has taken over Chi's body. Ms. Hibiya shows up at the roof. Freya's story continues. Just as she was disappearing, Elda volunteers to have Freya transferred to Elda so she would protect Freya's heart. Chi was running her program but stopped halfway because she didn't believe he could love her. Freya says it's time to destroy her because she was a failure. Ms. Hibiya calls out the chobits password and initiates a deletion of all data and termination of system. Hideki pleads and tries to yell out Chobits password, but it is no use. Zima and Dita zoom off. Hideki asks Hibiya to teach Chi happiness and says "all I want to do is make Chi happy". Chi begins to show tears, and internally works out her happiness. She comes back and hugs Hideki!

All the persocomms react as well, showing irises instead of solid color eyes. The persocomms are now able to love now that Chi was able to do so. For instance, Dita starts blushing when she’s with Zita. The story ends with a final storybook chapter, summarizing all the different relationships from the characters. Chi has found the person just for her.

In the end the main character, I forget his name, and the robot chick live happily ever after. But, of course, the last few episodes aren't very convincing.

It's a little confusing, especially with the two spy robots, I'm not sure I understand them at all! But that's a complaint I have about a lot of my favorite anime series anyway!

A boy and a girl have been child hood friends. When she is about to confess her love for him they are interrupted and she tells him she will tell him later. In the end that proves to be impossible and he has to save her. He fights to protect her and helps out people. She tries to do her best too even though she can't fight. The other main characters are also very important to the story and they try to keep the group safe too. I liked the anime and the ovas were awsome but the manga beat the anime! It was deeper and will have a great end for sure. They start out the same but they then get wayy diff. and the recent chapters have kept fans on the edge of their seat. (will Syaron survive?? Is Sakura dead? Wtf Fai's cursed? etc)

are people going to try to make robots like human like robots? You can own them and like do stuff with them. Like that japanese company love dolls? And like the manga Absolute boyfriend. Short answer: Yes.

In japan

the doll industry is investing huge amount of time to get realism into the dolls. It ranges from machine movement to simulate sex/blow jobs, etc.

Meanwhile the robot industry in japan is working real hard to get functional robot. To interact with your voice and they have already achieved that.

This person is japan who creates robot (srry forgot the name) is currently working on a machine for next 15 years, creating a robot brain. creating all types of interaction, putting emotion, etc.

Now no one really has taken strong initative to merge those two projects together, but as soon as the robot industry is ready is only a matter of time. Think of the $$!

It would be cool but, the day we mistake human for robot won't be in the next 50+ yrs or so.

They are not trying hard to make robots that are extremely like humans for now. You might see some developers at MIT or wherever trying it simply for appearances but robots that are built for practical uses usually wont be any higher than your waste.

There's this song in the origonal japense anime of Chobits that plays when chii is usally about to kick butt. It plays when she stomps the boss in the video game episode and it plays when she blows out windows when creeps try to touch her jollies. I liked Chobits...but I only watch Japanese dubs, so I can't speak for the English dubs...although the one for Chobits isn't bad. The English dub for Ah! My Goddess is so far beyond bad it defies description...I would say, next to Tokyo Mew Mew, it is the worst English dub ever!

The Chobits anime is horrible. It degrades Chi to the level of an animal and doesn't look good graphic wise. Of course I watched it after reading the manga. The manga was great and I wanted the anime to be the same but it turned out really bad...

He dropped something that looked like a CD to me in the anime (I didn't finish the manga yet) when he found Chii. What happened to it?

It's just gone after that. It's probably been crushed, thrown away or broken beyond repair. In the eighth manga, they tell you that it does indeed have all of Chii's memories (page twenty-four to be exact).

Its her OS, it makes her funtion properly, so she will know how to do somethings, it does have her memories i think,l but they are locked.

There are 26 episodes, but two are recaps that I don't think made it into the American DVD release. There are also two specials (one of which is a recap), and three promotional episodes.

You'll have to hunt around fansubber groups or overseas DVD sellers if you want to see the obscure ones.

I seen a little of the anime. (Anime are more censored compared to Manga) & the anime was kind of perverted..

Example: When Hideki tried to turn Chi on (at beginning of series) he can't find her switch so he's touching all over her body..until he gets to her.. ^_^;; XXX nothing graphic is shown though. It's rather implied.

Overall it's more romance, and a good series if you like romance and a beautiful girl.

Is it inappropriate? It depends on what kind of thing you already let them watch..

maybe you should try watching the first episode and decide if it is right for your child.

Well, some parts are considered inappropriate in my opinion, it contains some kind of "sexual content" if that's a better way to put it. I don't recommend it for a 12 year old. It does depend on how she can handle inapropriate content but I don't think I'd give my 12 year old sister or cousin something like that. The anime isn't as bad but Chii does some sexual type stuff like let Hideki 'touch' her saying he was only for her or something....I watched it along time ago, anyways the manga is not for her. Well, it really depends on the maturity level of the child...I read Chobits when I was 11, and I still love it,but I was able to handle all those things (nudity and sexual themes). I don't think it's really appropriate for most 12-year-olds. If they can't handle the sexual themes in a mature way,then it's not for them.

It really depends on if your child would be able to handle the content in the series. You could probably find the first book up at Books-a-million. Read through it some, and if you see it's inappropriate, then disallow him/her reading it.

What happens when Chi comes back... Im talking bout when the persoconms have that gleam in their eye it always confused me.

I think that Chii basically gave all the persocoms the ability to feel certain emotions like love, which technically makes them human (because most people think that persocoms aren't human cause they can't fell emotions), so the gleam in the persocoms eyes is a anime technique of showing emotional depth (usually used to depict the difference between humans and robots in anime)

When Chi came back and she made it so that all the persomconms can now fall in love.

I've read up to the 5th one. I can't read all of them though. Or at least the story from book 5 - book 8.

From the start?

There was this couple of hardcore Persocon makers; they were married and the woman was barren. Working with the company the guy made 2 Persocons he named 'Chobits' (Chii + I think her name is Freya) to be daughters for his wife and him; they're so advanced that they're practically human. Freya fell in love with the dad and for some reason (different in anime/manga) caused her system to break down. When she was dying she downloaded all her data into Chii. The parents wanted the remaining Persocon (Chii) to find her own 'one and only', so they blanked her memories and dumped her in a garbage heap; the guy also installed a reset button in her moist hole so nobody could use her for sex (it's hinted that her 'one and only' won't activate it if they do have sex but it isn't said outright).

The main character, Hideki, found her and fell in love with her over time. Chii realizes he is her 'one and only'.

There's also another bit where apparently Chii's ulta-advanced system is linked to ALL persocons, and she has the ability to shut them all down (we see this a couple times when she freaks out). A couple of persocons attempt to destroy her, as per their orders, but the guy doesn't want to for some reason. Freya and Chii communicate and it's decided that Hideki and her shall be together.

I've only seen the anime and it was a while ago so it's probably a bit weird but that's the basic story.

Even though the name was never explicitly stated, I don't know whether it's been hinted at or inferred from something, but it's always called Atashi - which comes from the Japanese feminine pronoun for I/me, demonstrating how it represents Chii's own search for that person just for her.

The anime tells about all the reasons its dangerous for humans to fall in love with a computer ( like when the guy leaves his wife for one) then it ends with a perscom and a human getting together???

Well, the best shows/literature discusses a theme which will undoubtedly have different facets. One facet of a robot-human union is that it will be possibly tragic for another human being; another is that it will be possibly tragic for the person who is involved with the robot. It makes the series more real, because one thing will mean differently to different people, and that's what Clamp is pointing out.

Despite the conflicting views presented in the series, Chobits ends with a hopeful note about the relationship of robots (which behave according to human input) and humans, as Chii displayed the ability to "activate", or "cause" something akin to emotion for other persocoms. In this regard, Clamp is leaning towards a more positive opinion about this issue.

I think this conflict is merely secondary to the central theme of the series, which is unselfish Love and Love free from obstacles (society and human nature); that's why Hideki and Chii ends up together xD. Chii needs to be loved in a way that does not present any pressure (i.e sex), and that's what Hideki can give her. :3 Hope that helps.

This is a good point and one that will need to be addressed in the future if humanoid robots come on the market. Will they have emotions? Not unless it's an approximation driven by a program. But that won't stop people from developing relationships with them. These kinds of people probably already have trouble developing relationships with other people. Take away that need by substituting robots and that person might never be able to interact properly in society. Does that mean they cannot be productive and useful? No, it just means they will be isolated. Undoubtedly, they will be ostracized for this behavior but that's rarely stopped people from acting the way that makes them happy. More interesting, I think, will be the legislation dealing with this issue. Will humanoid robots be prohibited in favor of something that won't allow these kinds of relationships to develop? I'm sure someone is thinking about this right now.

Hideki was aware of what would happen if he continued to have a relationship with Chi but his love for her overcame that. That was the hurdle that needed to be overcome for them to be really happy together. Hideki made the decision to ignore that Chi was a persocom and instead focus on how he felt about her and how she felt about him. Chi wanted to be with him as well. If they're happy together it's good enough.

Yeh but i got real experience. I fell in love with my perscom. And it turn out alright. I dont think i'll ever go back to a human woman again.

i dont really think so, yeah there was the problem w/ guys leavin women for persocoms, but in the end, remember it didnt make a difference. The roomate said it woulda been the same if the husband left the teacher for another woman. U know what im talking about. But yeah, the message of chobits to me was that love can come in many forms. Even man/robot. In the end, robots got real emotions.
